Inputs

Seed [-2147483648..2147483647]

The distribution of scratches will be done randomly. If you want to arrange them differently, simply change the Seed value and the node will be re-calculated.

Scale [-∞..+∞]

This setting can be used to scale the generated structures within the texture tile.

Rotation [0..100%]

By default, scratches will be created perpendicularly. Increasing the Rotation value will add a correspondingly increasing random rotation to the lines’ progression.

Density [0..100%]

This setting can be used to define the number of lines or scratches on a surface. The total number of scratches can be increased by layering multiple layers.

Layers [0..9999999]

This setting defines the number of Scratch layers. Each layer contains new scratches and can also be varied in size compared to layers below them. The modification of the scaling factor can be controlled using the Frequency Step setting.

Frequency Step [-∞..+∞]

This setting can be used to modify the scaling of each new Scratch layer compared to the previous layer. If Frequency Step is set to 1, the scaling of each layer will remain the same. All generated scratches will then have the same size. Smaller values will scale the scratches down accordingly and each layer will have more, smaller scratches. Values in excess of 1 will lead to a step-wise increase in size for the scratch structure per layer. Each layer will then have fewer but larger scratches.

Bend [0..10000%]

Normally, all scratches will be calcuated as straight lines. By increasing this value, curvature can be added to the lines. The curvature will be applied individually and randomly to each scratch.

Thickness [0..10000%]

Use this setting to define the maximum width of the scratches. Random variations in width will automatically be simulated for the scratches.

Gamma [0.001..10000]

The Gamma value can be used to control the bandwidth of the generated grayscale along the scratches. Normally, scratches begin with less brightness and gain in brightness as they progress. An increasing Gamma value will reduce this progression and very high values will produce a correspondingly homogenous progression of brightness.

Depth [0..10000%]

This setting can be used to control the depth of the scratches. A reduction of this value will lead to a fading of scratches, increasing values will darken the scratches accordingly.
